NATIONAL THINK-TANK APPOINTS LEGAL ADVISER
The National Think-Tank has appointed Mr. Louis Mbanefo (SAN) Legal Adviser to the organisation.

Mr. Louis Mbanefo, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and has practised via his firm MBANEFO & MBANEFO since 1974, specializing in maritime law as well as being heavily involved in much of the major shipping litigation in Nigeria and in development of Nigerian Maritime law.
Mr. Mbanefo was born on the 23rd September 1944, to the late Sir Louis Mbanefo, former Chief Justice of Eastern Nigeria and Justice of the Nigerian Supreme Court. He was educated at Marlborough College, Wiltshire, U. K. and Queens ‘ College, Cambridge University. He holds both Master of Arts and Master of Laws degrees, and was called to the English Bar – Middle Temple – November 1968. He did his pupilage in Middle Temple 1968 -1970, then worked as Legal Assistant to H. M. Treasury Solicitor, London. 1970 – 1972, attending the Nigerian Law School 1972 -1973. In June 1973, he was called to the Nigerian Bar June 1973.
Mr. Mbanefo’s extensive work experience from 1973 to date covers the business world and the Nigerian Federal Government: He was Appointed Notary Public of Nigeria 1978, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (equivalent to English Q. C.) May 1988, Consultant to the International Maritime Organization of the U.N. 1987, Appointed a visiting Professor at the IMO International Maritime Institute, University of Malta 1988, Chairman, Board of Directors of Nigerian National Shipping Line Ltd 1993, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Board of Governors of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) 1995 – 2001, Currently Vice – President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association, Chairman of Ministerial Committee set up in July 2000 by the Federal Minister of Transport to review and update Nigerian Shipping legislation among others.

As Legal Adviser, Mr. Mbanefo will give specialist & professional oral and written legal advice to the National Think-Tank.

Thanking the Chairman of the National Think-Tank, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Mr. Mbanefo thanked the National Think-Tank for this appointment and confirmed his wholehearted acceptance of this appointment, and preparedness to give many more years selfless service to our Country via the National Think-Tank.
